Dallas-Fort Worth Television Veteran Jane McGarry to present a series of “Starting Over” Segments for “Good Morning Texas” on WFAA-TV

Dallas, Texas…Veteran news anchor Jane McGarry has not been on a local broadcast since May 2012.  The former KXAS-TV anchor is set to return to DFW television presenting a series of stories for WFAA’s Good Morning Texas.

The segments are called “Starting Over with Jane McGarry,” and will air over a 5-week period beginning on Thursday, January 24, within the station’s 1-hour daytime local talk and information show, which airs weekdays at 9 a.m.

“I am excited to be working with the talented team at Good Morning Texas on this project,” said McGarry. “I hope the information will be helpful to the loyal viewers of North Texas, whom I have had the pleasure of knowing for more than two decades"

McGarry’s stories will focus on a variety of subjects, all involving local people who have experienced significant changes in their lives, often due to unforeseen circumstances.  A soldier’s parents who lost their son; the sudden death of a longtime spouse; or returning to school for career training: there are all sorts of scenarios that everyday people face. In her pieces for GMT, McGarry will introduce a series of local people dealing with these types of life-altering situations, explore their unique challenges, and offer ideas and solutions that may help those being profiled and viewers facing similar circumstances.

“After more than 30 years in news, this is a bit of a departure for Jane,” said Dave Muscari, WFAA vice president/product development.  “We discussed the idea of her producing some pieces for GMT, and are excited to see how the audience responds to her stories.”
