Thanh Truong returns to WWL-TV as Anchor and Reporter
NEW ORLEANS, LA - WWL-TV announced today that Thanh Truong will return to the award-winning Channel 4 news team as anchor and reporter. WWL-TV viewers will remember Thanh most for his exceptional reporting during the impact and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Channel 4 News Director Bill Siegel said, “Thanh is an excellent journalist and a gifted storyteller. He has a special connection with Southeast Louisiana and we are lucky to have him back at WWL-TV.”
For the last three years, Mr. Truong has worked as an NBC News Correspondent based in Atlanta, contributing to all NBC News properties, including “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams”, “Today”, and MSNBC. Prior to that, Truong had been a general assignment reporter with KUSA in Denver since 2006. There he reported on breaking news stories including the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Thanh also worked as a reporter for WMAZ in Macon, Georgia and WWNY in Watertown, NY.
Truong was born in Can Tho in southern Vietnam and graduated from Syracuse University with a masters degree in broadcast journalism, and received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, politics and law from Binghamton University. He will anchor Saturday Evening Newscasts and report on the latest news throughout our community. His first day with the Eyewitness News Team is Wednesday, September 18th.
